i just got in a little internet fight with someone. i left a comment to someone (whose website i dont even normally read) regarding their excessively narrow-minded post. i dont even normally do things like that, i never have left a negative comment before. the post had to do with politics, i dont want to get into specifics. i dont know the person who wrote it, but i have come across thier "type" so often that most of people i know can be blamed for this.

i require a few factors in order to enjoy a politics discussion. (these factors are rarely met) number one is dont insult me. dont accuse me (in any kind of indirect way) of being a liberal or conservative and tell me what a bleeding-heart trotskyite or warmonger fascist I am. number two is dont try to change my opinion. (everybody slips into this occasionally) but it takes away all the fun. the fun comes from getting down to the specifics. getting to why you would hold a certain position, and in what way that position differs from the opposing one. why your position would be a better way to the end goal. figuring out the end goal. most people dont realize that on almost every issue both viewpoints are trying to achieve the same goal. the opposition comes in on how to get there. i cant talk about politics with a person who doesnt realize that, because i cant stand the accusations.
